Oops... it's been a while...
Sorry for the absence of posting. I post mostly on LinkedIn and forget about my own site!
Just back from some great volleyball that has seared itself into my mind... until I start losing my marbles, that is...
So here goes...
Sport continues to be a great teacher.
This past weekend, my youngest played in the Senior Boys' Volleyball Provincial Championships and wow, it was a nailbiter throughout. The teams were so competitive; all the games were super exciting.
In the end, my son's team heart-breakingly lost in the final against a team they had beat at City Championships. What a great life lesson. You could win one day and lose the next.
I often tell my son what a privilege it is to play in a pool where everyone is competitive. That's what makes you better. It's not about crushing everyone to get a medal. If you're crushing everyone, then you're not playing at a high enough level. When everyone is great, everyone up-levels, even if you have to suffer a defeat along the way.
Who are you surrounding yourself with? People who challenge and push you? Or where you feel better than everyone else?
Live a little. Fail a little. Failure is just a stepping stone to a better you.
